Influenced by decreased biding prices of steel mills, Chinese domestic ferrosilicon prices went down by RMB50/t (USD8/t) in early May. However, by the late half month, large consumption of society inventories led to a tight spot market and resulted in a RMB100/t (USD16/t) price increase inthe end of the month. Similarly, ferrosilicon export prices went down by USD20/t in the first half of May; while in the latter half month, difficult cargo shipment of Vietnam made foreign buyers focusing more on Chinese official direct shipment of ferrosilicon, thus a more active export market was found with more inquiries and activities as well as a price increase of USD50/t
