The Chinese tantalum and niobium market remained quiet in May. On the one hand, overseas tantalum and niobium market witnessed tight supply and most suppliers were not in a hurry to sell the materials and tried hard to lift their offers. On the other hand, end users didn’t want to purchase at high prices and only relied upon small purchases. As a result, rare transactions were concluded in the spot market. Demand from alloy industry showed signs of reviving, but demand from optical glass and capacitor sector remained sluggish. Domestic tantalum and niobium smelters held their offers firm and waited for rebounding of the future market.
