The European and North American cobalt markets witnessed a small decrease in the supply of cobalt metal and many suppliers insisted on maintaining stable offers in May. Although consumers still put off purchasing, suppliers were unwilling to lower offers. The CDI conference was held on May 21-22, 2014, and many market participants gathered to discuss and find solutions to make the cobalt market recover. However, there seemed to be no obvious remedies and consumers still weren’t interested in replenishing materials in large quantities. Most market participants held a watching attitude towards the future market. Moreover, summer is the off-season for the cobalt market, and it’s expected that consumers will continue with hand to mouth buying, which will ensure things remain quiet over the next few months.
