After the sharp rises in February and March and slight increase in April, Chinese silicon metal prices continued to be firm in May. Although the electricity price in certain areas in South China decreased to the rainy season level late in the month, the overall supply of silicon metal on the spot market remained tight. Chinese silicon metal prices climbed slightly further in May.
