Chinese silicon metal prices increased sharply in February and March due to the tight supply on the spot market. Into April, the Chinese silicon metal market calmed down slightly and buyers had little interest in adding stocks in large quantities, waiting instead for the prices to drop during the coming rainy season. However, because of the low inventory in the spot market, Chinese silicon metal prices held firm in April and some transaction prices increased slightly.
