Stainless scrap prices increased sharply in the first two weeks of this month stimulated by significant raw material price rises, but they showed signs of falling back in the third week and tended to be stable in the fourth. In the meantime, as most suppliers weren’t active in selling materials, waiting instead for another price increase, the overall supply was tight
. Generally, the market performance in May was better than it had been in April, but was still some way short of that seen in the peak season . Most traders thought the price in the fourth week was the most reasonable and had no plans to adjust their quotations in the near future . Insiders foresee a stable price in June.
