Demand for steel was not strong in March though it was the traditional peak season for steel industry, resulting in large finished steel inventory and great sales pressure for steel enterprises. Mills reduced steel scrap purchasing prices in succession in order to control costs. The average price decline of steel scrap in domestic market was RMB50-170/t this month.
