Chinese refractory producers increased their brown fused alumina procurements as mills stockpiled in January before the Spring Festival but the general demand remained soft. brown fused alumina prices had not fluctuated and stayed at the current level in January when producers tried hard to collect payment. brown fused alumina producers had been out of operation for the Spring Festival holidays in succession since mid-January as the traditional festival came at the end of this month. Meanwhile, overseas orders did not increase and consumers were reluctant to purchase in January.
Chinese white fused alumina did not improve significantly in January and prices kept stable with prices of white fused alumina segment sand at RMB4,700-4,900/t. Most producers started holidays in succession as the Spring Festival approached. Export market remained relatively dim as majority of domestic traders had not received large orders from overseas consumers.
