The stainless steel market did not make much progress in February with prices of most products unchanged while some declined
. It was the Spring Festival public holiday from January 31 to February 6, and most traders returned from the holiday on February 7 . However, the majority of producers only restarted operations — and end users resumed work — following the Lantern Festival (February 14), so the market was quiet in the first half of the month . During the next two weeks, buyers were still not active in placing orders and the price of the raw material — nickel — continued on a downward trend, meaning stainless steel producers and traders couldn’t raise prices after the Spring Festival as they had done in past years . Demand is expected to be released to some extent during March, which is traditionally the high season for steel consumption, so insiders predict that market performance will make some progress, and market prices will go up slightly.
