Generally speaking, Chinese molybdenum market kept stable in January with sporadic activities. Many smelters stopped production in succession after mid-January as the Spring Festival approached. Some molybdenum mines stopped their production earlier in North China and there were rare deals concluded in molybdenum concentrate market. Downstream demand remained relatively soft in the second half January though steel mills replenished inventories before the Spring Festival. Ferromolybdenum suppliers held pessimistic attitude toward the market outlook and they believed that the market was hard to improve after the holiday.
