Generally speaking, domestic steel scrap market stayed at a low level with fluctuations in December and steel scrap prices declined slightly by RMB20-50/t in most areas of China. Some mainstream mills adjusted their steel scrap purchasing prices significantly at the end of the year as the market continued to weaken in South China while mills in North China kept inventories different and steel scrap purchasing prices low except that several mills increased to the figures to promote deliveries.
