The Chinese molybdenum market remained largely weak through December despite prices of molybdenum concentrate and ferromolybdenum being artificially raised in mid-December
. However most buyers refused to accept these higher prices as demand remained subdued . Asian Metal believes that molybdenum prices may slide down during January should the support of strong demand not be found . It is also expected that the purchase volume for ferromolybdenum from steel mills will be smaller in 2014 than those in previous years . Although domestic suppliers lifted offers of raw materials, consumers of molybdenum metal continued to show little interest in purchasing and continued to apply pressure on prices, resulting in few deals and declining prices . The molybdenum chemicals market saw no signs of improvement with weak demand and low prices.
