Prices of wire rod and rebar in most domestic markets experienced an up-down trend in December. In first two weeks, they went up or kept high level supported by mills’ cutting outputs for environmental protection and higher ex-works prices. However, in following two weeks, prices fell due to the soft demand and tightening capital flow that participants faced. Most buyers and sellers will take holiday for the Spring Festival (January 31) from middle January, so the steel market will be definitely colder then, and prices of wire rod and rebar are hard to go up again with the approach of the festival.
