Selenium has various applications. In the field of metallurgy, selenium can strengthen the processing performance of carbon steel, stainless steel and copper alloy, and in China selenium is wildly produced into selenium dioxide, which is used in manganese smelters to replace sulfur dioxide. China’s manganese output was around one million tons in 2012 and its industrial scale will continue to expand.
