Steel scrap prices decreased sharply in May but most mills had reduced their consumptions and even some mills stopped steel scrap procurement. Mills had kept steel scrap purchasing prices at a low level in June and they decreased their purchasing prices early this month in order to make losses; mainstream mills, without sufficient inventories, increased their bids to promote deliveries during middle and late June. Small mills frequently adjusted their steel scrap offers in East China while steel scrap market kept relativelt stable in Northeast China.
