During July, cobalt market was quiet in general and the price went into the falling trend again. In middle July, the government of Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) decided to increase the export tariff of cobalt concentrates to USD100/t, up from USD60/t previously. Impacted by speculation from major traders, cobalt metal price in Europe ran up fast in June. In July, DRC government announced to raise tariff of cobalt concentrates and the export ban will be put off to the end of 2013, and market participants thought that the policy would have little influence on cobalt market. The sentiment in cobalt market transferred to pessimism from optimism during this month.
