From the beginning of the second half year of 2013, both tantalum and niobium markets see dim market activities and decreasing prices
Insiders noted that during the past several years, the end consumers usually replenish some raw materials before they began their summer vacation, so many of the domestic processors would receive orders in early July. However, as the macro economy is going slowly, and the consumers are not optimistic about the future market, so they postponed the procurement.
Tantalum concentrate import prices went down from USD115-117/lb in early July to USD15.5-16.5/lb now, and it is predicted that the prices will continue to dip. However, the niobium concentrate prices also went down from USD17-19/lb in early July dip down to USD15 . 5-16.5/lb CIF China . Prices of the primary products such as the metallurgical grade tantalum oxide and metallurgical grade niobium oxide go down by different extent . But the tantalum ingot and the niobium ingot prices are stable relatively; we predict that the prices will decrease further.
. As the E . U . and U . S . end consumers began to have their holiday in middle July, and ending at middle August, during which time, the orders coming from this area will be reduced greatly.
