BEIJING (Asian Metal) 29 Jul 13 - During the beginning of this year, South African chrome ore prices increase slightly, but after the stabilization for one month, South African chrome ore market start to drop greatly with slow demand from Chinese buyers. Most Chinese traders who hold the material lament about the difficulties of sales with great losses. Since April, South African chrome ore prices become stable. Even if the prices of lumpy chrome ore with high quality begin to rebound obviously, for example, from Turkey, Pakistan, Albania, Iran and so on, South African chrome ore market keeps at low prices affected by large quantities. From the below chart, during the Spring Festival holidays, the prices of South African concentrate chrome ore 40-42% reached the ceiling of RMB32-34/dmtu ex ports and then decrease to RMB26-28/dmtu ex ports in late July, while Turkish chrome ore market gets warm in early May to RMB47-50/dmtu ex ports from the bottom of RMB45-48/dmtu ex ports. Meanwhile, due to tight supply of lumpy chrome ore with high quality, the prices keep firm comparatively.
