Domestic market review
Tracking the downward movement of nickel price, ferronickel and lateritic nickel ore market in China went down in the first half of this year. In middle of April, nickel price on LME retreated to USD15,192/t, and nickel price of Jinchaun brand went down to USD106,000/t. In this case, ferronickel 10%min price was at RMB980-1,000/mtu (USD160-163/mtu), down by 16.24% compared with that early this year. Lateritic nickel ore 1.8% in Tianjin port was around RMB350-370/t (USD57-60/t), down by 22.22% compared with that before Spring Festival holiday. Furthermore, the import price of lateritic nickel ore 1.8% is around USD33-35/t. Impacted by the news of QE3 may drop out early, nickel price sharply fell again in June, and nickel price on LME touched the bottom since 2009 to USD13,660/t. The price of nickel of Jinchuan brand was around RMB96,500-97,500/t (USD15,717-15,879/t). Ferronickel price followed the suit. Ferronickel 10% price touched RMB890-930/mtu (USD145-151/mtu), down by 9.18% compared with that in April. Lateritic nickel ore 1.8% is around RMB310-330/t (USD50-53/t) in Tianjin port, down by RMB11.4% compared with that in April. The import price of lateritic nickel ore 1.8% is around USD26-30/t.
