BEIJING (Asian Metal) 5 Jul 13 - According to the data from Asian Metal, Chinese nickel cathodes output was 15,715 tons in June, up by 6% compared with 14,830 tons in May.
Nickel cathode output increased in June because Ji’en and Xinxin resumed production. Both companies had halted production for a few months, and their stocks of nickel cathode were almost run out, so they decided to resume production. Ji’en produced 500 tons in June and Xinxin produced 400 tons in June.
Yinyi increased nickel cathode production to 650 tons in June, up by 8% compared with that in May. Yinyi may increase nickel cathode production to 800 tons at least in July.
Jinchuan, Jiangli and Sichuan Ni&Co remained normal production, which produced 11,000 tons, 1,450 tons and 1,100 tons respectively in June.
As nickel price kept lingering at low level and the demand from the consumers remained gloomy, nickel output in July may keep the current level or increase little.
