Prices of seamless pipe kept going down this month due to the poor market performance as well as sharp price decline of raw materials, with a markdown of RMB100-200/t. Not being confident of the coming market, traders were not active in supplementing inventories and they held a wait-and-see attitude towards the coming market. Though the central government announced to complete the transformation of 3.04 million shanty towns within this year and around RMB300 billion would be invested, it failed to boost the steel market due to the oversupply. Insiders do not think the price of seamless pipe will rise in July.
