Both manganese prices and trading volume experienced decreases in May. Chinese steel mills further reduced procurements for the materials due to poor downstream markets and cutbacks in production, whilst demand from overseas buyers showing no signs of recovery. Several manganese metal producers have ceased or reduced output due to the poor market and caused a 5% drop in production capacity.
