Although TISCO and JISCO suspended their high carbon ferrochrome purchase for May, Chinese ferrochrome producers have to raise their offers slightly to cover the increased cost of raw material, after seeing an increase in prices for chrome ore in early May. However, the markup of ferrochrome is limited due to the sluggish stainless steel market.

In May, chrome ore market improved, especially for lumpy chrome ore due to tight supply in the spot market and increasing demand from domestic buyers, however, due to large quantities of South African chrome ore were still available, Chinese domestic prices at ports were unchanged.
