The Chinese germanium metal market varied for large producers raised their quotations in the second and third weeks in March. Main plants in China increased their quotations from RMB11,600-11,800/kg (USD1,870-1,902/kg) at the beginning of the month to RMB11,900-12,100/kg (USD1,918-1,951/kg) in late days of March, with an increasing range of RMB300/kg (USD48/kg)
. As for the reason of price increasing, large producers disclosed that their low stocks due to the government’s stockpiling could account for that. However, medium and small suppliers didn’t adjust their offers and still kept the offers at around RMB11,000/kg (USD1,773/kg) . Downstream industry consumers were unwilling to make purchase and deals in the spot market were inactive . In addition, overseas markets saw few changes in March . Prices of germanium held firm due to the high importing cost, however, few deals could be concluded successfully in the spot market since consumers were cautious to make purchase, influenced by uncertain factors in the market .
