The Chinese gallium metal market in March was a bit active, compared with that of last month. Suppliers reflected that demand from downstream industry didn’t turn better obviously, thus end users still lack enthusiasm to make purchase. However, investors and traders were more active than consumers. Prices of gallium metal 99.99%min still hovered at RMB1,700-1,800/kg (USD274-290/kg). Some producers stated that their deals kept steady as a whole and there was no increasing. Although market participants noted that the market will turn better gradually in the long run, it is predicted that the market will be stable in the near future and deals will be unlikely to increase largely. In the meantime, few deals in the overseas spot market as demand from downstream industry failed to recover in March. Some participants who held pessimistic attitudes toward the market thought the gallium metal market would continue to move slowly in the coming months. Prices of gallium metal didn’t fluctuate either despite the weak demand for the production cost was high.
