Prices of wire rod and rebar in most domestic markets witnessed a strong downward trend in March, the traditional booming season, because of the restrained demand from downstream industries, decreasing raw material prices coupled with high market inventories. Meanwhile, no good news was released from the NPC&CPPCC, so the construction steel market was rather unpleasant this month. Nevertheless, insiders believe that prices will go up next month with the demand from real estate industry increases and the pressure from stocks being relieved.
