Affected by slowly moving global economy, China cobalt price had been trending downwards in the most times of 2012. Consumers were unwilling to build up high inventory because of an overall oversupply and a lack of confidence about the market in the future, so the price ran at a low level. Spurred by the rising European prices in February, 2012, China cobalt metal prices spiked to the peak of RMB238-256/kg (USD37.90-40.76/kg) or so, but then plummeted to RMB198-213/kg (USD31.53-33.92/kg) in December, a bottom price level since 2008.
