Chinese steel plate price increased a lot in the first half of February supported by traders’ positive expectation and higher ex-works prices. However, it began to drop within last two weeks of the month due to the weak demand from downstream industries. In March, customers’ demand saw no improvements and the sales volume remained at a relatively low level, so the steel plate price continued to fall. Considering the high output and stocks, decreasing list prices and weakening support from cost, insiders deem that the steel plate price is difficult to see substantial rebound in rest days of March.
