BEIJING (Asian Metal) 6 Feb 11 – Chinese buyers are paying more attention to chrome ore futures, though most of them have not sealed any deal yet. More participants are intending to replenish some materials in the near term, but lamented high quotations at the same time.
A Jiangsu-based trader, with a sales volume of 100,000tpy, reported to Asian Metal that they were considering importing more chrome ore and enquiring, but had not reached any deal yet due to price disagreement.
“We got the offer of USD270/dmtu ex ports for Turkish lumpy chrome ore 40-42%. Though the Chinese market is seeing uptrend, but we should still be cautious in importing as the momentum for price increase remains not strong,” said the source.
Another trader in Tianjin, with a sales volume of 80,000tpy, stated that they were also considering replenishing more materials as there should be more deals concluded in the domestic market in the coming weeks, when consumers come back for purchase.
“We got offers of USD285/t CIF China and USD295/t CIF China for Turkish lumpy chrome ore 40-42% and Turkish concentrate chrome ore 46-48%. Though these prices are relatively high, we are willing to negotiate for lower price and seal deals if prices more reasonable,” said the source.
A Beijing-based trader also said that they would import more materials later and disclosed having received offer of USD235/t CIF China for South African concentrate chrome ore 42-44%.
