On September 23, Hunan Yuneng announced that it will increase the production capacity of its planned lithium battery cathode material project in Spain from 50,000 tonnes per year to 70,000 tonnes per year, with total investment rising from RMB982 million (USD146.21 million) to RMB1.65 billion (USD245.67 million).
The company's board approved the establishment of the Spanish project in April 2024, agreeing to set up a project company in Spain. The project company has now been established, and construction is progressing on schedule.
According to the company, the investment increase is a necessary adjustment based on market demand, project construction and operational arrangements. It is expected to facilitate the smooth implementation of the Spanish project, provide production capacity support for the rapid growth of the company's international business, and align with its long-term development strategy and investment direction.
