Saudi Arabia has found an estimated 110 million tonnes of rare earth minerals and uranium ore in the Madinah region, according to Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman. The discovery, announced at the 70th Regular Session of the International Atomic Energy Agency General Conference, includes high concentrations of rare earth elements as well as promising uranium concentrations, based on exploration and geological studies conducted at Jabal Sayid.
Jabal Sayid, located about 350 km northeast of Jeddah in the Madinah region, is already recognized as home to one of the world's most valuable rare earth deposits.
According to an analysis by the Center for Strategic and International Studies, citing estimates from Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources and state miner Maaden, the site is believed to rank fourth globally, with approximately 552,000 tonnes of heavy rare earths such as dysprosium and terbium, plus another 355,000 tonnes of light rare earths including neodymium and praseodymium.
