Ferrexpo restarts iron ore production in Ukraine

Ferrexpo, a Swiss-based commodity trading and mining company, resumed iron ore production in Ukraine on September 7, following a month-long suspension of its mining and pelletizing operations.
The suspension came after a vessel carrying iron ore pellets was attacked by Russian drones in late July. In early August, Ferrexpo halted its Ukrainian iron ore mining and pellet production amid heightened operational and security risks.
According to the company's latest financial results, Ferrexpo produced approximately 1.56 million tonnes of iron ore products in the first half of 2026, including 1.39 million tonnes of iron ore pellets and 171,000 tonnes of iron ore concentrate.
