Canadian iron ore concentrate production rises 3.5% month-on-month in May

According to data released by Statistics Canada, domestic production of iron ore concentrates reached 5,176,223 metric tons in May 2026, reflecting a 3.5% increase compared to April 2026. However, output declined by 14.8% on a year-over-year basis relative to May 2025.
Shipments of iron ore concentrates from Canadian producers totaled 3,463,954 metric tons in May, rising 7% from the previous month but falling 29.4% from the same period last year.
Closing inventories held by Canadian iron ore producers stood at 7,505,774 metric tons in May, up 5.1% from April, yet down 22.5% compared to May 2025.
