  • AI-powered materials design platform launches for rare & nonferrous metals

    On June 30, the Intelligent Design Platform for Rare, Precious and Nonferrous Metals–a large-scale AI model–was officially launched in Yunnan Province.Asian Metal Copyright Since 2018, the Yunnan Provincial Department of Science and Technology has pioneered this major initiative, building a high-performance computing cluster with 17,400 cores, deploying over 40 sets of high-throughput specialized experimental equipment, and establishing dedicated databases covering more than 10 types of rare and precious metals.Asian Metal Copyright Developed by the Yunnan Academy of Science and Technology in partnership with Kunming University of Science and Technology, the platform represents a flagship achievement of Yunnan's major science and technology initiative on the Materials Genome Engineering of Rare and Precious Metals.

    Since 2018, the Yunnan Provincial Department of Science and Technology has pioneered this major initiative, building a high-performance computing cluster with 17,400 cores, deploying over 40 sets of high-throughput specialized experimental equipment, and establishing dedicated databases covering more than 10 types of rare and precious metals. To date, the project has accumulated over 90 million high-quality data records, laying a solid foundation of data, technology, equipment, and talent for the platform's launch.

    The platform serves as an "intelligent R&D expert" purpose-built for Yunnan's nonferrous metals and rare/precious metals industries. It has already been deployed across multiple enterprises and research institutes both within and beyond the province, delivering significant results in empowering innovation and production.
