India's LMEL reports 53% surge in iron ore output in Q1 of FY 2026-27

India's Lloyds Metal and Energy Limited (LMEL) achieved iron ore production of 6.05 million metric tons in the first quarter (April–June) of fiscal year 2026-27, marking a 53 percent year-on-year increase, according to a company statement released on Thursday, July 2.
The company stated that the output growth is well aligned with its target of reaching total production of 26 million metric tons by the end of the current fiscal year.
Direct reduction iron (DRI) production during the quarter stood at 182,460 metric tons, representing a 131 percent increase, following the commissioning of two new kilns that are currently operating at full capacity, the company said.
Iron ore pellet production was reported at 1.69 million metric tons, after LMEL expanded its annual capacity to 8 million metric tons with the launch of a new 4-million-metric-ton-per-year pellet plant.
