China adds 20 Japanese entities to export control restricted list

China's Ministry of Commerce announced on June 29 that it has placed 20 Japanese entities--including the National Institute for Defense Studies and others involved in enhancing Japan's military capabilities--on its export control restricted list, effective immediately.
According to the rules, export operators are prohibited from exporting dual-use items to the 20 listed entities. Foreign organizations and individuals are also prohibited from transferring or supplying dual-use items originating from the People's Republic of China to these entities. Any ongoing related activities must be halted immediately.
Under exceptional circumstances where exports are deemed necessary, export operators must submit a separate application to the Ministry of Commerce for approval.
The restrictions take effect as of the date of this announcement.
The twenty entities on China's export control list include National Institute for Defense Studies, Ground Systems Research Center, Naval Systems Research Center, Air Systems Research Center, NIKKO TOKKI Co., Ltd., Mitsubishi Electric Defense and Space Technologies Corporation, Mitsubishi Electric Software Corporation, Mitsubishi Electric Engineering Company, Limited, Mitsubishi Precision Company, Limited, MHI Oceanincs Co., Ltd., MHI Sagami High-tech, Ltd., MHI Logitec Co., Ltd., KOWA KOGYO, Ltd., MHI Special Vehicles Parts Supply & Technical Service Co., Ltd., MHI Maritech, Co., Ltd., Kawajyu Gifu Manufacturing Co., Ltd., NIPPI Corporation, Fortunio Co., Ltd. and Aoki Seimitsu Kogyo Co., Ltd.
