XTC New Energy plans 10ktpy lithium-ion cathode material project in Malaysia

XTC New Energy Materials (Xiamen) Co., Ltd. announced plans to establish a wholly-owned subsidiary in Hong Kong, through which it will form a joint venture with EMI in Malaysia. The Malaysian joint venture will invest USD64.58 million (approximately RMB450 million) to build a 10,000tpy lithium-ion cathode material production facility.
The project is set to be located in Ulu Selangor, Selangor Darul Ehsan, Malaysia. Under the arrangement, EMI will develop its own land parcel to construct standard industrial facilities tailored to process requirements, and subsequently lease them to the Malaysian joint venture. The joint venture will then carry out adaptive renovations, retrofitting, and equipment installation to rapidly deploy the 10,000tpy cathode material production line. Construction is scheduled to commence in September 2026 and conclude in June 2027, with a total timeline of 10 months.
Once operational, the new facility will add 10,000tpy of lithium-ion cathode material capacity. In the long term, the project is expected to boost the company's revenue and profitability, while further strengthening its core business and sustaining long-term operational resilience.
