Baotou's primary rare earth metal output up 58.2% in Jan-Apr

According to Baotou Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, the city's industrial added value of above-scale enterprises grew by 7.5% year on year in the first four months, up 0.1 percentage point from the January-March period.
The manufacturing sector of chemical raw materials and products, led by rare earths, saw its added value more than double, contributing 6.1 percentage points to the growth of above-scale industries. Non-ferrous metal output also posted robust growth.
Output of primary rare earth metals and aluminum products increased by 58.2% and 60.0% respectively. Rare earths, aluminum and equipment manufacturing became major growth drivers. Their added value climbed 46.6%, 10.7% and 41.4% year on year, rising 34.3, 5.7 and 18.4 percentage points from a year earlier. Combined, they lifted the growth of above-scale industries by 10 percentage points.
