Ganfeng Lithium's phase 2 salt lake project shortlisted for RIGI

Ganfeng Lithium Group Co., Ltd.'s Phase 2 Cauchari-Olaroz salt lake project in Argentina has been officially included in Argentina's national Incentive Regime for Large Investments (RIGI), becoming the first major lithium resource project led by a Chinese enterprise under the program.
Launched by President Milei's administration in 2024, RIGI serves as a key economic reform initiative. It offers a package of preferential rights to draw strategic large-scale investments, covering eight major sectors including mining and energy.
Located in Jujuy Province in northwestern Argentina, the Phase 1 project commenced operation in 2023 with a designed annual capacity of 40,000t LCE. It churned out 34,100t of lithium carbonate in 2025. The approved Phase 2 project is planned to hit an annual capacity of 45,000t LCE, adopting advanced and eco-friendly direct lithium extraction technology. The expansion will greatly lift the company's self-sufficiency rate of lithium resources. Meanwhile, tax, tariff and foreign exchange incentives under RIGI will substantially cut operational costs. Combined with the inherent low-cost edge of salt lake lithium extraction, the project will gain stronger market competitiveness.
