Putailai plans lithium-ion battery anode material project in Malaysia

Shanghai Putailai New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. announced plans to build a lithium-ion battery anode material project in Malaysia with an annual capacity of 50,000 tonnes through its wholly-owned overseas subsidiary, Zichen Malaysia SDN. BHD., with a total investment of up to USD297 million (approximately RMB2.04 billion).
The project will be funded by Putailai's own capital and located in the Gurun Industrial Park in Kedah, Malaysia. Construction is expected to take 24 months. Once completed, the project will add 50,000 tonnes per year of lithium-ion battery anode material capacity and further strengthen the company's overseas production footprint.
As of the end of 2025, Putailai had total annual anode material capacity of 250,000 tonnes. The company's anode shipments in 2025 reached 143,000 tonnes, up 8.1% YoY.
