According to the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, China significantly strengthened pollution-reduction capacity in key industries during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021–2025).
Over the period, the country eliminated more than 120 million tonnes of step-grate sintering capacity, over 68 million tonnes of coke oven capacity with chamber heights of 4.3 meters or below, and around 30,000 coal-fired boilers.
