On February 2, JISCO Gansu Hongxing Hongyu New Materials Co., Ltd. put its process optimization and product mix upgrade project into operation, completing the world's first integrated rolling line that combines thin-slab casting and rolling (CSP) with conventional hot strip rolling.
The project will boost annual hot-rolled coil (HRC) capacity from 2.5 million tonnes to 4.5 million tonnes, expand product thickness from 12.7 mm to 25.4 mm, and increase the number of steel grades from 57 to 172. It will enable large-scale production of high-quality electrical steel and high-grade pipeline steel.
The new line also fills a supply gap for high-quality carbon steel coils in northwest China and is expected to support demand from sectors such as new energy equipment manufacturing and oil and gas transportation.
