Talison Lithium, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tianqi Lithium's controlled subsidiary Windfield Holdings, produced its first batch of qualified chemical-grade lithium concentrate from the Phase III expansion project, following initial commissioning, on January 30, 2026.
The concentrate will continue to supply Tianqi Lithium's lithium chemical plants in China and overseas, primarily sourced from the Greenbushes spodumene mine in Western Australia. With Phase III coming on stream, total production capacity at the Greenbushes mine will rise to 2.14 million tonnes per year.
According to industry data, the Greenbushes spodumene mine is expected to be the world's largest hard-rock lithium project by output in 2025, accounting for an estimated 13.7% of total global lithium production that year.
