HBIS Group has been granted the first steel export license issued in Hebei Province for 2026 by Hebei Provincial Department of Commerce. This marks the province's first such license since China reinstated steel export license administration after a 16-year pause.
Starting January 1, 2026, China will require export licenses for certain steel products, including steel, pig iron, and billets. Companies must also provide certificates confirming product quality. The measure aims to guide exports, optimize trade structure, and support high-quality development in China's steel industry.
The export license administration covers 300 steel products across the entire value chain from raw materials like pig iron and sponge iron, to intermediate products such as billets and slabs, and finished goods including hot-rolled and cold-rolled coils, as well as coated and plated steel products.
