From September 20 to 24, Tibet Mining's 10,000tpa lithium carbonate project at Zabuye Salt Lake passed performance tests and officially went into operation
Zabuye Salt Lake, the world's third-largest and Asia's biggest lithium salt lake, is rich in lithium reserves with high grades and a low magnesium-to-lithium ratio, making it a rare natural source of lithium carbonate. Construction of the project began in 2022, followed by trial production in June 2024, and the official launch now marks Zabuye as the first large salt lake in Tibet to enter industrial-scale production.
. The project is the first in the world to use a membrane separation + MVR process, designed to produce 9,600 tonnes of battery-grade lithium carbonate and 2,400 tonnes of industrial-grade lithium carbonate annually, along with 156,000 tonnes of potassium chloride and 200 tonnes of rubidium-cesium salts.Zabuye Salt Lake, the world's third-largest and Asia's biggest lithium salt lake, is rich in lithium reserves with high grades and a low magnesium-to-lithium ratio, making it a rare natural source of lithium carbonate.
