Northern Rare Earth sees robust H1 metal production and sales

In the first quarter of 2025, China Northern Rare Earth (Group) High-Tech Co., Ltd. recorded operating revenue of RMB18.87 billion (USD2.64 billion), up by 45.24% YoY, according to its semi-annual report. Production of rare earth products through smelting and separation saw year-on-year growth, rare earth metals output and sales rose 28.10% and 32.33% YoY respectively, and rare earth functional materials also recorded an increase of 16.65% and 17.93% respectively in output and sales, with production hitting all-time highs for the period. Sales of lanthanum-cerium and praseodymium-neodymium products also set historical records.
From January to June, the company produced 15,161t of rare earth oxides, up by 111.2%, 71,145t of rare earth salts, down by 1.32%, 24,108t of rare earth metals, up by 28.10%, 34,570t of magnetic materials, up by 24.13%, 12,545t of polishing materials, up by 1.22%, and 979t of hydrogen storage materials, down by 0.72%, all on a year over year basis.
Sales for the first period included 20,162t of rare earth oxides, up by 15.71%, 64,792t of rare earth salts, up by 45.41%, 22,398t of rare earth metals, up by 32.33%, 34,744t of magnetic materials, up by 25.39%, 12,650t of polishing materials, up by 2.41%, and 975t of hydrogen storage materials, up by 2.14%.
