Dingneng kicks off aluminum slag and lithium battery recycling project

On August 22, Qinghai Dingneng Environmental Technology Co., Ltd. broke ground on a new project that combines aluminum slag treatment with lithium battery recycling. Once operational, the project will process 80,000 tonnes of aluminum overhaul slag, 20,000 tonnes of carbon slag, 50,000 tonnes of aluminum ash, and 10,000 tonnes of spent lithium-ion batteries each year.
With a total investment of RMB220 million (USD30.7 million), the project is designed to produce 5,000 tonnes of lithium carbonate, 30,000 tonnes of recycled cryolite, 2,000 tonnes of potassium chloride, and 60,000 tonnes of calcium aluminate annually. It is expected to generate over RMB500 million (USD69.78 million) in annual output value and create more than 270 jobs, with operations targeted to begin by July 2026.
