CATL suspends mining at Yichun lithium project

Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Ltd. (CATL) announced it has halted mining operations at its Yichun project following the expiration of its mining license on August 9. The company is applying for an extension in accordance with regulations and aims to resume production as soon as approval is granted.
According to the National Mineral Exploration and Mining Information Management System, the mining license of CATL's subsidiary Yichun Era New Energy Mining Co., Ltd. was valid from August 9, 2022 to August 9, 2025. The license covers lithium-containing ceramic clay with an approved annual production capacity of 45 million tonnes.
