Tianqi Lithium eyes EIA approval for lithium carbonate project

The Management Committee of Zhangjiagang Free Trade Zone in Jiangsu Province is set to approve the environmental impact assessment (EIA) for a 26,000tpa battery-grade lithium carbonate project by Tianqi Lithium New Energy Materials (Suzhou) Co., Ltd.
With a planned investment of 207.5 million yuan (28.82 million US dollars), the project will make use of existing lithium hydroxide facilities and add a new CO2 tank area. Once completed, it will significantly boost the company's production capacity of battery-grade lithium carbonate.
Founded in April 2023, the company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Chengdu Tianqi Lithium Co., Ltd. It is located in the Yangtze River International Chemical Industrial Park within the Zhangjiagang Free Trade Zone, Suzhou, Jiangsu Province. The company has existing production capacity of 30,000tpa of battery-grade lithium hydroxide monohydrate and 60,000tpa of anhydrous sodium sulfate.
