China's crude steel output slides 10.4% in Aug

In August 2024, China produced 68.14 million tonnes of pig iron, down by 8.8% YoY, 77.92 million tonnes of crude steel, down by 10.4% YoY, and 110.90 million tonnes of finished steel products, down by 6.5% YoY, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.
From January to August, the country's production of pig iron declined by 4.3% YoY to 577.70 million tonnes, crude steel production shrank by 3.3% YoY to 691.41 million tonnes, and finished steel products production slightly increased by 0.4% YoY to 925.73 million tonnes.
